Joint municipality Lachendorf: Culture

A whole series of historical lore has been implemented artistically in permanent design under the catchword "Magic places". Among these:

Die Geschworenen (The Jury) – group sculptured of wood – set up in remembrance of the council meetings in Beedenbostel of the principality Lüneburg in 1642 and 1645. They are to be a reminder of the earlier importance of Beedenbostel as the seat of a district bailiwick.

HochZeit im HimmelReich (Heyday in Heaven) – at the confluence of the heath streams Lutter and Lachte, called "Himmelreich" in folklore. The landscape sculpture "HochZeit HimmelReich" of Klaus Meier-Warnebold was created.

Paarweise
(in Pairs) – Peace festival to mark the end of the legendary "Pig war" between Eldingen and Steinhorst.

It is over 330 years ago that the inhabitants of these municipalities fought against each other for the pasture and herding rights. The photo installation of Marion Gülzow is a reminder of the "Peace Agreement" celebrated in this respect in 1998 – permanent exhibition in the tavern Bangemann in Bargfeld.

Jasper slütt den Schmaloh tau
Hans Gierschick's installation of sounds allows "whispering stones" recount one of the folkloristic legends of the south heath – this place has developed into the attraction for tourists in Schmarloh south of Eldingen between Wohlenrode, Grebshorn and Bunkenburg.

The activities of the author Arno Schmidt are surely of particular importance for the cultural life in Bargfeld.

The Arno-Schmidt Foundation developed from the house he lived and which describes and cultivates his life and his work.
